Liam McElwee
WTF(it)! Founder

The Unofficial Mayor of Fitness, Fun, and a Ton of WTF News!"

Hey, it's me, Liam McElwee, your not-so-typical health and fitness enthusiast, and the unofficial mayor of all things fitness, fun, and, of course, a ton of WTF newsletters!

I’ve been a high-level swimmer, owned a CrossFit gym, traveled the world with my beautiful Canadian wife Tanya, and embarked on every diet from vegetarian to keto and now mostly carnivore. I've sweated it out in the gym, stretched my limbs in every direction, and even embraced the ice-cold embrace of ice baths in the name of mental health. Oh, and did I mention I'm a die-hard CrossFitter?

Yep, I’ve done it all, from being a gym rat to exploring the stretchy stuff, and let me tell you, my personal fitness journey has been like a wild ride on a rollercoaster.

My health and wellness journey, just like yours, has seen its fair share of ups and downs, especially with the weight rollercoaster. But I've been on a seven-year streak of healthier living, thanks to better eating choices, finding a workout routine that suits me, and surrounding myself with fellow wellness warriors.

But here’s the thing: these emails aren't just about me and my fitness escapades. No way. We’re diving into everything and anything under the sun (and even under the ice in those chilly baths). From diets that range from vegetarian to paleo, keto, and now my carnivorous adventures, to the mental health practices involving ice bathing, constant learning, and stretching my knowledge to its limits. And oh, did I mention my love for personal development? Yup, that’s in the mix too.

Now, I'll admit, I'm not an expert in much, but what I lack in expertise, I make up for in sheer determination. I'm here to learn, to connect with amazing folks who are way smarter than me, and to bring you the Joe Rogan of newsletters (minus the podcast mic, but with a ton more emails).

So, buckle up, my friends, because this WTF(it)! newsletter journey is going to be a wild, enlightening, and hilarious ride. From fitness facts to mental health musings, we’re covering it all. Join me in this rollercoaster of health, humor, and a dash of madness – trust me, it’s going to be one heck of a ride!" 🎢🌍😂

 Liam's Top 5 Tips

Navigating the Hilariously Wild Ride of Health and Fitness (with a Side of Laughter!)

1. Crew Cruising for Fun: Fitness journeys are more fun when you're not the only one sweating like a sinner in church. Find a crew that makes burpees feel like a comedy show. After all, laughter is the best ab workout!

2. Know Thyself (and Thy Appetite): In the vast menu of fitness and nutrition, remember that you're the head chef. Pick the exercises and foods that suit your palate. Just avoid overindulging in the dessert section – no matter how tempting those cupcakes may be.

3. More Than Meets the Eye: Fitness goes beyond lifting weights and flexing in the mirror. It's about balance, resilience, and staying limber, not just physically, but mentally and spiritually too. It's like yoga for your mind and soul, stretching beyond the gym." 🧘‍♂️💪😌

4. Open Mind, Open Gains: Be open to learning and listening to various fitness philosophies. You might discover that yoga is not just for pretzel people, and CrossFit isn't a secret cult (or maybe it is, but that's okay too).

5. Take a Seat and Make it a Comedy: Sometimes, life's a treadmill, and you're running in a hamster wheel. So, hit the brakes, sit back, and find the humor in it all. Whether you're laughing at your own workout fails or admiring your newfound flexibility, make it fun – because if you're not enjoying it, what's the point?"

There you have it, my top 5 tips to keep you laughing, learning, and lunging through the rollercoaster ride of health and fitness. Remember, life is too short not to find the funny in fitness!" 💪😂🍔
